Register note:
- Ech hätt gär… and w.e.g. make orders sound polite without needing a long sentence.
- Staff often answer with a bare Gären or Soss nach eppes?. Both are friendly, not curt, and Nee, merci is a complete reply.

- Ech hätt gär… is a polite “I would like…” pattern.
- w.e.g. stands for wann ech gelift: please.
- Kaart is close to “card”; before mat, the final -n drops: Ech bezuele mat Kaart.
