Starter: sounds & survival phrases

Greet someone, thank them, ask for repetition, and say that you are learning Luxembourgish.
Say it out loudMoien.Hello.
Context: Use these phrases in shops, lifts, offices, cafés, and first meetings. Focus on being understood, not sounding perfect.
Register note:
- Moien works in both formal and informal situations. It is the safest default greeting.
- An Iech? is the polite/formal “and you?”; with friends or classmates you will often hear An dir?
Sound notes
- Moien sounds close to “moy-en”; keep it short and friendly.
- The letter ë is a soft, central vowel. In bëssen, keep it light rather than stressed.
- Dir is the polite “you”; du is informal and appears in later lessons.
